What is the SESP OWWA Scholarship?

Basically, the Skills for Employment Scholarship Program is offered by OWWA through the help of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. The SESP offers one-year technical and six-month vocational courses while following the regular school year schedule.

This scholarship program is designed for OFWs and their qualified dependents who want to enroll in Te-voc courses generally offered by TESDA. OFWs with active OWWA membership are the priority of the SESP which will cover their enrollment fees in any technical vocational courses offered in institutions accredited by TESDA.

Successful applicants will receive up to Php 14,500 of financial assistance per course, no matter how long the training course will take. In case the cost of the course exceeds this amount, the applicant will cover the difference. The age limit for dependents has been changed from 21 to 24 years old, provided that the OFW dependent is still single.

Benefits of SESP

OWWA has extended the period for the availability of the SESP to OWWA members and their beneficiaries for six months after the membership has expired. This scholarship grant allocates a maximum budget of Php 14,500 per applicant for each course they enroll in. If you’re looking to enhance your skills and knowledge, taking technical vocational courses is a big help.

A National Certificate issued by TESDA will also help you get more jobs abroad. The NC I or NC II is one of the prerequisites for any skill-oriented jobs here in the Philippines and abroad. Once you have completed a short-term course from TESDA, you become qualified for specific jobs or even promotions related to the program.
