DMW Reports Tragic Loss of 3 Overseas Filipino Workers in UAE Flooding

In a recent update from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the agency has confirmed the deaths of three Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), attributed to the extreme flooding the region has recently experienced.

According to DMW Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac’s posts on social media, two of the fatalities were due to suffocation inside a submerged vehicle, whereas the third casualty resulted from a vehicular sinkhole accident during the flood. The families of the deceased are promised support and aid during this harrowing period.

“With heavy hearts, we divulge the loss of three OFWs amidst the UAE flooding incident,” stated Undersecretary Cacdac. He emphasized the department’s commitment to offering unwavering support to the families of the victims, ensuring they receive all necessary assistance through this challenging time.

Mobilizing Aid for the Affected Community

The DMW, together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, is coordinating efforts to aid the Filipino community stricken by the disaster. Relief operations are being organized to procure and distribute essential supplies and aid to residents in the hardest-hit areas, including Al Ain and Dubai, as outlined by Undersecretary Cacdac in a recent social media update.

This initiative reflects the department’s solidarity with and commitment to its citizens during crises, ensuring that no one is left behind during such devastating natural calamities.

With much sadness, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reports the deaths of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), two females and one male, as a result of the heavy flooding in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The two females died due to suffocation inside their vehicle during the flooding. The third victim died due to major injuries sustained from an accident when his vehicle fell into a sinkhole at the height of the flooding.

DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac and the entire DMW family offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families and relatives of our departed OFWs.

The department assures the families of the three OFWs of its fullest support and assistance.

The DMW’s Migrant Workers Offices and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are working closely to provide all assistance to the families of the three OFWs.
