​What Is the Information Technology Training Program?

The Information Technology Training Program is a short-term educational program for OFWs and their dependents. The purpose is to maintain and improve relationships between Filipino migrant workers and their beneficiaries through selected training centers and stations in OWWA Regional Centers. OWWA members and qualified beneficiaries are eligible for this 10-day IT training for free.

The module covers digital media arts training and basic computer operations which includes Microsoft Word Processing, Adobe Photoshop, Windows Movie Maker, Desktop Publishing, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Excel. The training modules come with these lessons as well as short-term courses that will help dependents in using technology efficiently while navigating different computer applications to expand their skills and job opportunities.

OFWs, whether active or inactive OWWA members and their beneficiaries can take advantage of this IT training program with access to IT applications for free. You can choose from designated Informatics branches, Satellite Welfare Office, or any OWWA Regional Welfare Office branches to complete this training program.

This IT training program also offers all the basic computer applications you need to learn in order to become computer literate. Whether you want to learn how to use Spreadsheets, Photoshop, Presentation, or Desktop Publishing, this program will improve your skills and equip you with the tools to level up your career.

​Requirements for IT Training Program

Before you submit the requirements, make sure that you qualify for the IT training program. The main qualification is to have an OWWA membership or be a qualified dependent of an OFW OWWA member. Eligible dependents must provide any proof of relationship to the OWWA member or OFW, and meet one criteria below:

  • For married OFWs, the spouse or unmarried child below 20 years old and a high school graduate.
  • For single or single parent OFWs, unmarried child below 20 years old and a high school graduate, or unmarried sibling below 20 years old and a high school graduate.

Applicants need to submit some important documentary requirements in order to get a slot in this training program. To get you started, make sure to secure the following requirement for your IT training program application:

  • Duly accomplished application form
  • Membership record issued by the OWWA RWO, OFW E-Card, Official Receipt of membership contribution, or any proof of OWWA membership
  • Valid ID of the applicant and the OFW OWWA member with a recent photo
  • Applicant’s birth certificate, CENOMAR, or any proof of relationship to the OWWA member

​How to Apply for OWWA IT Training Program

Once all the documentary requirements are completed, it’s time to send your application to the nearest OWWA Regional Welfare Office branch in your area. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Visit your local Informatics office and secure the application form. You can also go to the OWWA Regional Welfare Office or satellite office to get the form or contact the nearest OWWA branch for the application form.

Step 2: Provide all the required details in the form and make sure they are accurate and true.

Step 3: Prepare the duly accomplished application form and include the required documents for the application processing to be completed.

Step 4: Submit the application form and requirements to the nearest OWWA Regional Welfare Office or Informatics branch in your area.

Step 5: Schedule your appointment at any satellite OWWA office by using the official website’s appointment scheduler via www.appointment.owwa.gov.ph or use the OWWA Mobile App’s appointment scheduler.

Step 6: On your scheduled appointment, go to the OWWA SWO or RWO near your permanent address.

Step 7: Get your queuing number and wait until your name or number is called.

Step 8: Make sure to bring your OFW ID or a valid Philippine passport for verification purposes.

Step 9: Wait until the OWWA membership verification process is completed. Then submit your duly accomplished application form together with the requirements.

Step 10: Wait for the confirmation email that the OWWA representative will send you to confirm your slot.

Step 11: If your grant application is approved, you will get a notification through email, text, or phone call from an authorized OWWA personnel.

Step 12: A Notice of Award will be issued to you once your application has been approved.

Step 13: Upon enrollment, bring your NOA and other requirements to an OWWA-accredited Training Center. It basically serves as a free pass to the Information Technology Training Program.
